What to Expect

Initial Evaluation and Assessment
The first phase of treatment is an in depth evaluation of your eating patterns and you prior diet history. We discuss why diets have not worked for you in the past and will assess what your biggest challenges are. We will also begin to explore what impact your mood has on your eating.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Sessions
Private and confidential therapy sessions will focus on evidence based cognitive behavioral therapy for weight control management. We help create a weight loss mindset by ending emotional eating, learning to overcome cravings and food triggers, learn how to navigate internal mood states as environments that may trigger overeating. We help you make daily decisions that will support healthy eating.

Exposure-Response-Prevention

At Overeaters Solutions, we utilize Exposure-Response-Prevention (ERP), a therapeutic technique which assists clients in developing a healthy relationship with food. Clients are led through a series of exercises that include food preparation and eating. Clients are guided through challenging unhealthy or negative thoughts and feelings about food as well as tolerating anxiety associated with certain foods. As clients get comfortable with food again, therapy focuses on meal planning, food preparation and shopping for healthy foods. Clients are introduced to portion control, and learn to distinguish real hunger from phantom hunger and stress eating. In addition, clients are taught to be in tuned with feelings of fullness and prevent self from overeating. Overall, clients regain control over the process of eating by reducing anxiety about food and developing a sense of mastery over their eating habits.
